Capturing memories to last a lifetime

3rd Eye Images photograph weddings across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire as well as the rest of the UK.

Yorkshire Brides popped James from 3rd Eye Images in the hot-seat!

How long have you been a Photographer within the Wedding Industry?

I have been in the wedding industry as a photographer now for around 3 years, no matter how much you know or don’t know every day at a new wedding is a new learning curve.

How did you get into Photography? I’ve been into photography for around 7 years now but it wasn’t until lockdown that I started to turn what was a hobby into something I wanted to create for a business. I tried my hand at all sorts - weddings, events, nightlife, boudoir portraits and wildlife. And eventually set my self as a wedding and events photographer. Why weddings?

Although weddings are probably the most stressful event to capture I just love the creativity it can produce, the vibe of the day and all the happy people you get to be around and meet. It makes it all so worth it when the couples receive their photos back and they love them.

What would you describe your style as? Now this is a tough one I tend to advertise myself as a relaxed, fun photographer who captures the day as it unfolds without too many posed photos, always up for a laugh and absolutely will climb a tree or crawl across the floor if I know it was going to lead to a great shot for the couple.

As for the style of my images, I’d say true to colour and bright and airy with a moody touch. I’ll be absolutely honest I am colourblind but this doesn’t stop me from producing quality finished images. 😊

What is your favourite part of the wedding day?

Favourite part……. All of it! From the bridal and groom prep, seeing the excitement, nerves to the ceremony, where there is always a tear or two. The confetti shot, where you always get that one person who has to throw the confetti straight into the faces, speeches are great too especially with the anticipation of what the best man is going to say 🤣. And cannot forget that first dance moment.

But if I had to choose one particular part it would have to be that time after the ceremony where you get to spend it with just the couple capturing their moment and seeing the whole thing sink in for them that they are now married.

Describe your signature shot?

Signature shot??? I don’t actually have one, every wedding and couple are different so I go with the flow of the day.

When working with couples, what do you value the most?

Their vision and ideas. Again everyone is different and everyone wants different things, especially with all the trends on social media. I love a couple who can vision what they want and then we can have a full on discussion of how we are going to pull it off and accomplish it, that sort of thing brings couples and photographers closer together, which works great on their wedding day.

What can a couple expect from you on the day of the wedding?

A workaholic. I’m there on time, in fact most of the time I am early, I greet everyone, I have a laugh, I put people at ease with my bad jokes or my prompts for a shot. I’m on hand for anything, I’m not just a photographer - I’ve braided hair, I’ve done some taxiing, table arranging, dress holding, I’m sure there’s a lot more. To sum it up I know how important that one day is and I go that extra mile on their day to make it stress free for them.

Can you advise your booking process?

Of course it’s easy, once you have your date and venue in place we would arrange a free consultation either face to face or via zoom call, to discuss their day and them as a couple, this gives the couple an opportunity to ask any questions they would like to know and also get a feel for the person they are possibly going to trust with their magical day. After the consultation the couple can go away and discuss everything.

If they decide they do want this Viking-wannabe as their photographer then I will email them an invoice with the package they have chosen along with a full contract.

To secure their day a signed copy of the contract would need to be returned along with a £100 non refundable deposit.

A deposit invoice will be sent back with confirmation of the date secured. Final payment is to be made 14 days prior to their wedding, or if they want to pay in instalments that is also available.
