The Watering Can Florist is owned and ran by experienced florist Liz Wood based in Emley, Huddersfield. Liz holds 20+ years of experience within the floristry trade, following in her mother’s footsteps, who was also a flower arranger.
Liz started her floristry career shortly after unexpectedly losing her dear Father in 1995. It was after this, that she decided that it was time to carve a career in something that she has always been familiar with and loved – floristry. Liz trained in Huddersfield and gained her NVQ level 2, before enrolling on classes with the famous Judith Blacklock London flower school and The Flower School in Cheshire.
The Watering Can Florist’s style is modern, colourful and elegant, and even though having amassed years of experience in the wedding industry, Liz always prides herself on staying up to date with the latest trends and this is completed reflected in every bouquet or piece she designs.
Liz is a member of Flowers from the Farm and has her own cutting garden, and uses British grown flowers, wherever possible, across the year, including utilising local flowers farms based close to the shop in Emley.
Liz has been described as a sympathetic florist, which means she places love into every piece that she creates, which she described as being critical when designing floral arrangements for brides-to-be.
As a finalist in the upcoming North of England Wedding Awards, Liz explained that the best part of a wedding, is when herself and her team are handing the bride-to-be the completed bouquet, or when they have finished the venue setup. Liz commented “It gives a real feeling of achievement to see the finished product and the client to be so emotional and happy with their floral arrangements.” And continued “To see the bride-to-be happy with their flowers before they head down the aisle gives us complete satisfaction, along with some happy tears from both parties!”
The Watering Can Florist is next showcasing their talents at the Spicer Manor wedding showcase on the 12th of November.
