The wedding invitation

We are now into our final months before our big day, and the time has come to create our wedding invitations!

Our invitation will be closely synced in design with our 'Save the date' and 'Save the evening' invites that we sent out early last year, but your final invitation has to hold a lot more info for your guests.

It's all well and good having wedding invitations that look beautiful - but if they don't have all the correct information on them, you're opening yourself up to a lot of questions & potential queries from your guests. Not what anyone needs when they're busy wedding planning! We have put together the following Yorkshire Brides | Weddings quick guide to help aid with your invitation creation, with a list of things to potentially include;

Main Invitation

  • Host names (such as your Parents etc) - who is the invitation from?

  • An opening invitation sentence

  • Who is invited - be clear on plus ones/children etc - any specific guest info can also be included on the details card

  • The couple's names - who is getting married?

  • The date and specific time of the wedding. Make sure to alter this for the daytime and evening guest invitations - depending on how your day is being hosted!

  • The location of the ceremony (and reception if being held elsewhere!)

RSVP Card

  • A separate RSVP card, or instructions for a digital RSVP if you are hosting a wedding website or taking RSVP's via email or text

  • Details of the menu for the wedding breakfast - if your guests have a choice, put this on here, along with any dietary requirements etc

  • We think it is also fun to add a 'song choice' section if you are having a DJ or entertainmenet in the evening. You can then incorporate some of your guests favourite songs in the evening reception!

Smaller Details - on a separate card

  • Include travel and accommodation information if this is available

  • Advice on attire

  • Parking and general information for the venue(s)

  • Gift options - things like a honeymoon poem or gift registry fit perfect here

We advise trying to keep your wedding invitation uncluttered and to the point. If you have opted for a digital wedding website, lots more information can be held on there for your guests.

Finally before sending to your stationer or your printer (if you are creating DIY invitations), then please make sure you PROOFREAD! Spelling mistakes or missing information can be avoided when you proofread!

Happy designing/planning and look out for further blogs as we plan our special day. Take a look at our Featured Suppliers for stationery inspo.
